Whats the best place for a chimp like me to gets drunk? I prefer darker places, as I'm none too handsome. And Wallingford, so I can stumble home without driving. Bonus points for a jukebox.

Re: Wallingford
Fri, January 6, 2006 - 10:47 PMThere are many drunks at Changes. It's pretty dark, and the chimps there are none too handsome either. -

Sat, January 7, 2006 - 5:23 AMThey also serve very strong, cheep cocktails in nifty little pitchers. More booze and fewer trips to the bar! -

Ugly, chimp-like denizens. Cheap cocktails in nifty little pitchers. I'm so there!
Do they have a good jukebox?

Re: Wallingford
Sat, January 7, 2006 - 9:11 PMI saw people drinking something called a "Trash Can" there once. It was a can of Red Bull upended into a pitcher of something. Something that included blue curacao. It was one of the scariest things I've ever seen. I wanted one. -

Re: Wallingford
Mon, January 16, 2006 - 1:20 PMWallingford:
Al's Tavern - dark, divey, somewhat hip
Moon Temple - Best Chinese Restaurant bar in town, I always have wierd experience here
Pacific Inn - On Stone Way down around 39th... awesome fish and chips, hipper younger crowd
I've yet to check out the Seamonster Lounge... a couple of the Irish bars are passable (O'Shea's, Murphys), as is Goldies. -

Mon, January 16, 2006 - 2:04 PMBut which of them have a jukebox? I can't think of one. -

Re: Wallingford
Tue, January 17, 2006 - 9:48 AMGood question, that's a detail I never really pay attention too unless I'm having a boring time at a bar. -

Re: Wallingford
Tue, January 17, 2006 - 9:52 AMThis chimp, while at divey bars, likes to sometimes choose the music he taps his monkey-foot to. And the music on jukeboxes are sometimes a nice stroll down memory lane.
Thanks for the recommendations though. A jukebox is not a make or break thing for me, just the icing on the cake. -

Re: Wallingford
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 11:46 AMMoon Temple has a jukebox, but I think it's one of those crappy MP3 ones where they have like two songs from each CD listed. I'd bet Al's does, but I can't remember... they do have a few old school video games however, I think Galaga and Asteroids cocktail games last time I was in there. -

This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: Wallingford
Wed, January 18, 2006 - 10:53 PMI used to be a most excellent Galaga player. Is Al's on 45th, same side of the street as Dick's? I think the owners are friends of friends. I keep meaning to go in there. -

Re: Wallingford
Thu, January 19, 2006 - 7:51 PMYup, I think it's 2-3 blocks West of Dicks on the same side of the street. Cool bar, dark, divey, never really packed when I've been there, cute tattooed girl bartenders often, regulars get served beer in Mason jars, often a dog or two wandering around. A few old vids and a Golden Tee. Crowd in their 20s and 30s, fairly hip but not hipster. I haven't been there in almost a year, things do change, but I doubt it with that place.
